\"\"Most of the information about poker on the internet is corrupt. The majority of  the poker websites only advertise the same Pokerstars and FullTilt bonuses, but do not actually care about the beginning players. Just try and search Google for a few simple poker keywords (for example \”poker blogs\” or \”poker social network\”) and you will get a bunch of useless out of date, not working or not supported websites. Quality websites are usually at the bottom of the list, so finding useful poker information is not that easy.

If you are looking for quality poker resources, you\’d better consult your friends and colleagues about the trustworthy online destinations, because:

  • You cannot trust Social bookmarking sites like Digg, StubmleUpon, Delicious, as they have only few actually useful links
  • You cannot trust Twitter, because people will throw their referral codes and affiliate links at you instead of providing real explanations
  • You cannot trust Yahoo! Answers which are full of spammers (Answers.com is not the case as it is owned by Wikipedia)
  • You cannot trust Facebook, because all the pages and groups are created only to advertise some particular websites and not to discuss the poker issues
  • You cannot trust link directories – all the links there are purchased
  • You cannot trust free press release directories as they advertise the products rather than announce actually important news and business information.

So what resources can you trust then? Are there any websites that provide quality and trustworthy information? The answer is YES. These are poker magazine and media sites, such as Cardplayer, Bluff, PokerNews, Pokerlistings, PokerPages, Pagat etc. which have already been in the market for 5 or even more years and have proved their authority over the time. Some communities and social networks such as 2+2, Cardschat, Pocketfives, PokerDIY, FullContactPoker etc. are also trustworthy poker information resources and if you\’re looking for some answers in poker the people there will help you and will let you know whether your source is reliable or not. If you really want to know the latest poker business issues, is is always good to consult the independent media like CNN, SKY, BBC, NewYork Times – they are very selective about the poker news, so the garbage will simply not go through.

Poker social networks are also the place for trustworthy information, however there are some that should not be trusted as well, so it is advised only to choose the biggest ones. The information must be selected really carefully; otherwise you will end up learning poker from the sources which are fake and made only with the purpose of advertising some products and brands.

I bet you would ask me what are these trustworthy social networks then? Poker 2.0 is still under the investigation. So far I can only recommend Railbirds and PokerDIY. These have already been in the market for some time and there are live reliable people behind them. Pokernations looks promising, but it is still a new product and does not have many members who would produce quality content and would be able to determine whether the website is spam or not. We will have the opportunity to observe their development process in the nearest future.
